If you go there, go with me...

I woke up a few days ago with Wild Honey by U2 stuck in my head. This is really odd because I haven't heard that song in years.

However, its not surprising because I've been in a dreamy spring/summer frame of mind lately and I've always felt that it was a good running-through-the-field-with-wind-in-my-hair kind of song.

So...

" If you go there with me
Wild honey
You can do just what you please
Wild honey
Yeah, just blowing in the breeze
Wild honey
Wild, wild, wild "

I have a feeling I can be someone (be someone, be someone)

Every month or so, I get up the courage to listen to Fast Car by Tracy Chapman and promise myself that I won't cry. Every month or so, I stand corrected.

I really don't know what it is about that song.

It's not that I necessarily strongly identify with it. I don't often feel like running away from my life and it certainly isn't nearly as rough for me as it portrayed in the song.

I guess that, to a degree, we all wish that we had a fast car to fly away in and the optimism it takes to see a brighter future. In the end, what really hits home is that, no matter what, you can still aspire and endure.

Remember that folks. Nothing has the power to break your spirit.

Umm...

Emailed to a friend about 2 minutes ago:

"So I just wanted to let you know that Portishead has struck again with another album. As I was waiting for the song to buffer on Last.com I was reading all the reviews which were raving with excitement and for a moment, a brief little glimmer of hope entered my mind and told me that perhaps, just perhaps, this wouldn't be too bad. It was finally finished buffering and I pressed play.

I got through about thirty seconds of it before I closed the tab and said to myself, "apparently not..."

(no offense to all the portishead fans out there - it just isn't my thing)
